Beautiful High Performance 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback

New to our Benicia showroom is this beautiful 1965 Ford Mustang 2 Door Fastback with Alpine White exterior paint and a black Pony interior.  You’ll find the factory 289 V-8 under the hood along with a five-speed manual transmission, front  disc brakes, a Flowmaster exhaust, a Hurst shifter, the factory radio & new Torque Thrust wheels with new BF Goodrich tires.  This rare, amazing classic muscle car is fresh off a complete rotisserie restoration and it is in sensational shape both inside and out. You definitely want to see this one in person before it’s back in a private collection forever.

First Classic Off San Jose Assembly Line in 1965

The current owner of this 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback informs us that this is an original California classic with a VIN ending in “000”, meaning it was the very first vehicle off the San, Jose assembly line in 1965.  You’ll find the original sheet metal still in place along with the factory 289 HP engine with solid lifters, a Comp cam, an Holley intake and carburetor, a Canton oil pump, 351 Windsor heads and the original Cobra dress up kit.  The transmission is a Tremec 5 speed with a hydraulic clutch and a Hurst shifter, along with a Wilwood racing linkage and a clutch cylinder mounted under the dash.

Additionally, this 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback underwent a rotisserie restoration in 2013. New mechanical Trans rear end done less then 250 miles ago. It has received countless other upgrades, such as a 2.5” Flowmaster exhaust with 3” tips and 3Y long headers, and an upgraded aluminum radiator, 1:16 short dry steering, sub-frame connectors and traction bars, a 1” front sway bar (3/4” rear) and the original factory radio (w/ MP3 stereo in glove box and Kenwood speakers hidden under the dash).  There are also an electric antenna, an electric kill switch, a fuel shut off switch and so much more. The 5 Speed and rear assembly axles gears and brakes are all new.

In terms of its present condition, this 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback is exceptionally clean with the original factory Pony interior that shows minimal signs of wear. The exterior of this classic is also well above the typical driver standard with very nice body lines plus all new chrome and upgraded Bullitt mirrors.  There are a few minor imperfections in the exterior paint but nothing to detract from this one’s overall curb appeal. The engine compartment is also nicely sorted with the original Cobra dress up kit and a true factory appearance.  This one is simply exceptional throughout.
