Motor Trend's 2002 Car of the Year was the Ford Thunderbird and after driving this black T-Bird pictured above you will understand why. Ford's revival of this iconic American design and value-packed pricing made the Thunderbird an instant hit. Painted black over a black leather interior with red leather inserts this Thunderbird is considered aesthetically pleasing to most. The retro style dash and aluminum trim pieces found throughout the interior pay homage to the T-Birds of old, yet this Thunderbird is still its own car with modern technology sprinkled throughout. Powered by a 3.9L DOHC V8 and 5 speed automatic transmission the Thunderbird produces plenty of passing power and also provides a respectable 23 mpg on the highway. Equipped with a convertible soft top and a removable hardtop this T-Bird is suited for any kind of weather, although most would have to agree it is best enjoyed with the top down.
