1983 Ferrari 400 I 2 Door Coupe

One of the more hard-to-come-by Ferraris, the 400is is a classic V-12 powered grand tourer.In fact, they were never officially imported into the US, however many were brought here via the grey market.

At first glance, this car does not have the stereotypical Ferrari look, and that is what makes it so unique.This is definitely the car for someone who is looking for something out of the ordinary.Its sleek, and extremely understated look are what sets this car apart from other Ferraris of the 1980s.

This 400i is unique not only that there are only a handful in the US, but also because it is a 5 speed manual where many of the 400i Ferrari's were automatics. Only about 1/3 of the1,294 Ferrari 400i's made featured 5 speed manuals and they were only imported into the US between 1983-1985. In fact, to work around export limitations, the odometer was purposely turned up to make it appear as a used car! The owner estimates that this was done to the tune of roughly 15,000 miles.Currently it reads 29,000 miles.Like many grey market cars, this one was converted to the US system of miles from the metric system.

The stunning color combination adds to the theme of understatement and elegance.The silver paint is in excellent condition overall with only a few minor blemishes due to age.The original interior is in excellent condition with all leather surfaces intact and looking great.As great as you may think the pictures look, they simply do not do this Ferrari any justice.Once you sit inside, smell the leather, and shut the vault-like doors, you will agree!
