The Porsche 912 model was al alternative option for people looking for the distinctive 911 look without the higher 911 price tag.Only 2,092 were built making the 912E one of the more collectable four-cylinder Porsches. The 912 was a comfortable and fuel efficient Porsche that got up to 30 miles per gallon and still has a "classic Porsche look" today that has people thinking it's a 911.Originally painted Chocolate Brown (408-9-1)form the factory, but now wearing a custom Brown Metallic paint over light brown interior this 912 takes on a retro look that seemingly defines the 1970s era. The interior and dash show some signs of age and light wear; however the exterior paint is in very good condition and all the bright work is very nice as well. The car is rust free with good pans and was originally a California car, although it spent two years in Colorado and managed to come out unscathed.Recent work includes new Michelin tires and a new front windshield.
"The 912E will obviously find favor with those who prefer a slightly more practical and tractable Porsche," predicted Road & Track. "It's a car with almost all the sporting virtues of the more expensive 911S, yet its simpler pushrod 4-cyl. engine should make for better fuel economy and less expensive maintenance than the 911's six."
