It's not easy finding a early Datsun 240Z in great condition, but this 1972 is a very nice example of an original looking Z that has been in the sellers hands for the past 27 years. The current owner of this 240Z owned a Z-Shop in the Santa Barbra area from 1976-1991 in which they serviced over 5,000 Datsun Z cars and was also a factory trained Datsun technician so you can rest assured this car was well taken care of. The original engine has been replaced in favor of a 260Z block that has been punched out to 2.9L and uses the more efficient E88 240Z head with enlarged 280Z valves that have been both ported & polished. The current setup has seen 70k miles since the rebuild and still pulls strong through the gears thanks to a complete rebuild of the original four speed transmission 45k miles ago; the clutch has seen just 400 miles.
The red Imron paint is in very good condition and was applied four years ago as a two part epoxy painting procedure. The interior shows only mild wear and has a perfect dash with no cracking or brittle sections. The only noticeable flaws include a small paint chip on the left rear quarter panel and a small dent on the hood. Recent service work performed since arriving in our showroom includes a new E-brake cable, rear transmission mount, new differential mount, new avrestor strap, and new rear sway bar bushings.
