New to our Pleasanton showroom is this highly impressive 1968 Ford Mustang GT California Special 2 Door Coupe with bright Candy Apple red exterior paint, great chrome & body lines, plus a black vinyl interior.  You’ll find a modestly modified 289 cid V-8 engine under the hood that’s paired to a 4-speed manual transmission, and the current owner also has the original factory 3-speed manual that’s included in this sale.  This example also comes equipped with power front disc brakes and  a Marti Report to confirm everything about the original build.

Driven & Enjoyed by Same Family for 40+ Years 

According to the Marti Report on file, this 1968 Ford Mustang GT/CS Coupe was built on March 5^th, 1968 in San Jose, California, sold in Oakland, California spec'd as a 289 V-8 with a 3-speed manual.  The current owner had the factory engine rebuilt within the last 60,000 miles, and he informs us that this classic has been in his family prior to 1981 when he purchased it from his older brother. We also know that this classic was resprayed in the correct Candy Apple Red several years ago and it appears in excellent shape today with very straight body lines and proper fitment all the way around.  Chrome, glass and trim are all above average as well for a classic of this caliber.

Additionally, this 1968 Ford Mustang GT/CS 2 Door Coupe has been maintained at very high levels over the past four decades and enjoyed as a high end weekend driver.  Out on the open road, acceleration is brisk and this muscle car handles very nicely, with sufficient stopping power from the front disc brakes.  The interior is also super clean and appears largely original as well, with the additions of full instrumentation and a grippy leather steering wheel, as does the nicely detailed engine compartment and trunk area.  It is obvious that this example has been loved and cared for throughout its lifetime.
